A device that reduces the voltage level of high-energy electrical systems, protecting against large external surges such as lightning strikes and electrical switching operations. There are two connection arrangements:
1) Parallel (shunt protection)
• Class I and Class II surge protective devices applied at the main distribution board (MDB) and at sub-distribution boards (DB or LP)
2) Series (series protection)
• Class III surge protective devices and surge filters applied to protect highly sensitive equipment

Two: shunt protection (parallel) and series. The choice depends on the installation point and the nature of the electrical system.
It depends on where in the electrical system it will be installed. Generally, Class I goes at the building service entrance, where it has to handle direct lightning current; Class II goes at sub-distribution boards; and Class III goes close to end equipment. Our engineers can design this for you.
